One Foot in the Past
Written By: Nikki Wright

Author's Notes: This fic was created in the midst of a website-based mental breakdown I wrote this story to gain a new perspective with The Simpsons which is considerably dark and dramatic. It involves one of the great loves of my (time travel) which at the time was finding it's way into all artwork and ideas I would do. The view I had when writing this faded away shortly after finishing as it was just too dark. This story is loosely based on an old episode of the Outer Limits in which a man goes back in time to stop something awful from happening to himself.

Chapter V: Yesterday's Future

<Department of Justice>

ALLISON walks over to her desk and sees a newspaper that reads "Thompson Executed." She then gets up and quickly thumbs through a filing cabinet for THOMPSON's criminal records. She opens the folder and sees all of his victims including ALEX WHITNEY who is seen with bruises all over her body and strangle marks around her neck.

DR. LISA SIMPSON: (Remembering) The time traveler remember not only the changed timeline, but the original one as well.
ALLISON: Alex... oh god. It's not fair... ohh.

WARREN walks up to ALLISON.

WARREN: What's not fair?

He sees what she is looking at.

ALLISON: Um... nothing.
WARREN: I know it's a shame. I... I thought with Thompson dead it... it might help.
ALLISON: ...Yeah, but it doesn't, does it?
WARREN: ...No. I wish I could've met her.
ALLISON: Yeah, that's right. You never did, did you? She would've liked you.
WARREN: You think so?

ALLISON puts the folder away and closes the cabinet.

ALLISON: Yeah, I'm sure of it. In fact she would've made me take you up on that Galaxy Wars 6.
WARREN: Well, I... I can get tickets. I just didn't think you'd wanna.
ALLISON: No. Tommorow night?
WARREN: Maybe I should just stop thinking.
ALLISON: Uh-uh. Don't you dare.

ALLISON looks at the photo of ALEX and herself in the park.

<Springfield A&M, Campus Park>

DR. LISA SIMPSON is talking to a group of her students at a picnic table.

LISA: Can you imagine witnessing Lincoln deliver the Gettysburg Address? Or actually being in Paris with Lindbergh landed?
MALE STUDENT: Or it's kind of like knowing the outcome of the 2043 World Series?
LISA: *laughs* That's not what I meant at all.

ALLISON TAYLOR arrives in the background with sunglasses on. LISA looks over at her, she then removes her sunglasses so LISA can see her face.

LISA: Excuse me.

LISA gets up and walks over to ALLISON.

LISA: Oh, my god. I know you.
ALLISON: You... you built it, didn't you?
LISA: You're the one, aren't you? You're the one that saved me.
ALLISON: You did it didn't you?
LISA: Sorry, what?
ALLISON: The time machine.
LISA: ...I'm sorry, I can't... I'm not ready to talk about that.
ALLISON: I don't care why you did it. For yourself, for the government... I just need to know... that you did it.

LISA then slowly smiles at ALLISON.

<February 16, 2016 - Springfield City Park>

WENDELL THOMPSON is sitting on a bench by a pond feeding ducks breadcrumbs. A gust of wind then starts and causes Wendell to turn his head and see a large orange portal appearing.

ALLISON TAYLOR emerges from the portal with a gun in her hand.

ALLISON: Are you Wendell Thompson?
WENDELL: Y-yes, that's my name. What is this?

ALLISON raises her gun and fires...

The End.
