Plot As punishment for a prank, Principal Skinner makes Bart assist him in his astronomy. There, Bart discovers a comet. Which as it turns out is going to hit Springfield within a day. Springfield residents pile into Flanders' bomb shelter, but there isn't sufficient room. Flanders is forced to leave, but later everyone leaves, and as the comet enters the atmosphere, it breaks up, and it ends up in destroying only the bomb shelter. Bart is able to put the comet into his pocket.
