Plot To try and improve TV ratings in space travel NASA intends to find an average man to send into space. Homer phones up and complains, and NASA tracks him down to Moe's. Homer says that it was Barney that made the call, but finds out that they intend to send him to space Homer says that it was him, NASA sets up a contest to see who will go into space.Barney wins the contest, but loses because of his love for alcohol.Homer wins by default. Homer goes into space and then breaks the door handle to prevent them from being able to survive the re-entry to Earth. But Homer manages to save them by using an Inanimate Carbon Rod.
